Once again we will be operating our very popular 5 day tour that we have been operating since 1989. As usual we will be using the very popular Cairndale Hotel and Leisure Club in the beautiful border town of Dumfries. www.cairndalehotel.co.uk. Mackin Travel clients can enjoy free use of its heated indoor pool, spa, sauna, steam room and gymnasium. Our clients have particularly enjoyed the excellent food and entertainment programme at the hotel. The excursion programme (as always) has been carefully planned to make sure that you get a true insight in what Scotland has to offer. This is one of our most popular tours so early booking is recommended.
After a hearty Scottish buffet breakfast, (similar to Irish), we take a stunning mountain drive to Edinburgh. This is probably the most beautiful city in Europe, where the Irish always get a warm welcome. After a tour of the city you will have the remainder of the day free to soak up the many attractions this magical city has to offer. We then return to the hotel for dinner and relax after a memorable day.
After breakfast we travel to the beautiful English Lake District. Our journey takes us first to Lake Ullswaterwhich which was William Wordsworth's favourite Lake. Our lunchtime stop is in Windermere on the shores of the famous Lake Windermere. After lunch we travel via Grasmere Lake and stop for a break in the picture postcard town of Keswick. Our previous clients have particularly enjoyed their stay in this lovely Lakeland town. We then return to our hotel for dinner.
After breakfast today, we head for Bonnie Scotland’s city of culture, Glasgow. After a tour of this magnificent city we take the high road to the ‘Bonnie Bonnie’ banks of Loch Lomond. We then return to our hotel for another fine Scottish dinner.
After a final hearty Scottish breakfast you will have the morning free to soak up the delights of Dumfries. You’ll discover a really fine town with magnificent red sandstone buildings. You may want to spend the remainder of your sterling in its pedestrianised shopping centre, or visit St Michaels Kirk where the immortal Scottish poet Rabbie Burns is buried. In the afternoon we catch the afternoon sailing from Cairnryan to Belfast and arrive back in Ireland with many happy memories.
