PICK UP POINTS

WEXFORD, ENNISCORTHY, GOREY, ARKLOW, KILMACANOGUE, DUNLAOGHAIRE

We are delighted to give you the opportunity to join our fantastic tour led by Frank Mackin to the picturesque Yorkshire Dales.  Our base for 4 nights is the 3star AA rated Cairn Hotel in Harrogate www.strathmorehotels.com .  The hotel is set in 4 acres of its own private gardens yet is only 5 minutes walk from the centre of town.  It has grand Victorian features and full of character that is sadly missing from some of the newer hotels that have been built.  Harrogate is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and is one of the most prosperous towns in England.  It is famous for its Spa waters and is an excellent base for shopping and sightseeing.

DAY 1

We depart by executive coach from your local pick up point and catch the ferry from Dunlaoghaire to Holyhead. We have a refreshment stop  in the Chester area and then proceed to the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate where we will be based for the next 4 nights.

DAY 2

After breakfast we head for the Yorkshire Moors.  Our first stop will be in the old fashioned market town of Thirsk in the vale of Mowbray deep in the heart of “Herriot country”’.  We then proceed through the Moors to our lunchtime stop in the picturesque fishing village of Whitby.   According to Bram Stokers novel, Dracula’s ship ran aground on the beach in the harbour, and Dracula ran off as a black dog up the 199 steps.   Our afternoon stop is in the small medieval city of Ripon with its famous Cathedral.

DAY 3

After breakfast we head for the Yorkshire Dales.   Our lunchtime stop will be in the small honey pot town of Grassington .  You will enjoy its cobbled square with a selection of family owned shops offering quality foods, arts and crafts alongside cosy cafes and restaurants.  Our afternoon stop is in the historic market town of Skipton with its delightful old world ambience.

DAY 4

After breakfast we travel to the world famous city of York voted to be the most attractive city in England.  Renowned not only for its iconic Minster Cathedral but its exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets and proud of its Viking past.   We return to Harrogate  early afternoon so that  you can  have some free time to enjoy this lovely town.

DAY 5

After breakfast we travel back to Holyhead for our return ferry to Dunlaoghaire with a stop enroute for refreshments.
